"We have a tradition of including everyone, members and the general public, relatives, second mates, and of course the children - especially the children because they are what this is all about," says F.R.E.E.[tm] Founder and Director Anne P. Mitchell, Esq.
"Divorced dads spend most of the year, either working extraordinarily hard at doing the fatherly things, or coping with the heartbreak of separation from their kids," adds F.R.E.E.[tm] Associate Director Brent Wellman. "This day, we want to take time to relax, reflect on, and celebrate fatherhood."
"This is a particularly bittersweet time for those fathers who are unable to spend time with their children, and we want them to feel especially welcome," adds Mitchell. "Father's Day is their day as well, and our Father's Day Picnic in the Park gives them an opportunity to spend time with other fathers and their children, and to still be part of the larger celebration of fatherhood."
