F.R.E.E.'s own Anne Mitchell appeared as an expert guest on the Leeza Gibbons Show on Tuesday, Feb 6th, a segment focusing on "Deadbeat Dads."
The show features actor Fred "Rerun" Berry; Jeffrey Nichols, who was featured on the cover of a recent People Magazine as the country's worst "Deadbeat Dad;" a custodial father whose ex-wife went "deadbeat" in her child support payments and has disappeared; former Oakridge Boy Steve Sanders and his new wife Janet Sanders, and of course Anne Mitchell.

Fred "Rerun" Berry's section is about Fred's grown son wanting Fred to apologize for not being more a part of his life. Unfortunately, this segment gets rather heated.
The worst "Deadbeat Dad" Segment has Jeffrey Nichols admitting he made some mistakes, and describing how he has been completely estranged from his (now grown) children as a result. His hope is that his children will see the show, realize his regret, and contact him.
The custodial father talks of his difficulties and shows a "wanted" poster of his ex-wife, as there is a warrant out for her arrest for non-payment of child support.
The Sanders' story tells how Steve Sanders was asked to leave the Oak Ridge Boys due to the negative publicity around his case when his ex-wife refused to accept a final support payment because it was one hour late, leading to Mr. Sanders' arrest for contempt!
F.R.E.E.'s own Anne Mitchell was the expert guest planted in the audience. Billed three times before commercials as "The woman who was not paid child support and that's okay with her," Anne was unfortunately able to get in only a few words before the show ran out of time, due to the over booking of guests and the last minute addition of Fred "Rerun" Berry and his family. Still, Anne was able to get across how critical is the damage done to a child when one parent constantly puts down the other to the child, and the importance of having parents encourage a child's relationship with the other parent.

However, the producers have evidenced an interest in producing another show focussing more on custodial fathers and how non-custodial mothers perform far more dismally than do non-custodial fathers; so please watch this site for information about that.
